Catcams Camshafts

Here can you find prices and buy camshafts by the part nr. you find at Catcams webpage. Click the link below:

www.catcams.com

Choose camshafts and then brand in the menu to the left and finally the correct engine in the main window.

What does the chart means?

Part nr. STD = Original camshaft specification. Otherwise Catcams article number.

Description: Quick specfication on the camshaft, see below for more info.

Cam wheels: When black symbol use OEM, when red symbol this should be replaced.

Valve setup: When black symbol use OEM, when red symbol this should be replaced.

Application: Tells us what application the camshaft is made for.

Sport: For street cars. Good low rpm-range and slightly higher rpm range then original. Often works with OEM fuel injection and valve mechanism.

Hot street - dirt track: For street/track cars and race cars. Works best in mid and high rpm-range. Often demands carburetor/adjustable engine management system and rebuilt valve mechanism.

Tarmac rally - race and full race: For race cars. Acceptable mid rpm-range and best in high rpm-range. Demands carburetor/adjustable engine management system and rebuilt valve mechanism.

Turbo conversion: adapted for turbo engines.

When you have found a suitable model, click the magnifying glass next to each part number for full specification and tip of suitable valve springs, retainers, followers etc.

What does the camshaft data means?

Lash ramp: Valve clearance. When hydro (hydraulic followers) this is self adjusting.

Duration: From 0.1mm or 1.0mm lift of the valve the crankshaft rotates this many degrees before the valve reaches the same lift before closing. A longer duration often means a more aggressive camshaft. When comparing the camshafts, it is mainly the duration at 1,0mm and the max lift that separates the camshafts, even though the duration at 0,1mm can be equal. Also remember a 4-valve head normally have a larger valve area then a 2-valve. So at the same duration the 4-valve head camshaft is more aggressive then the 2-valve.

Valve lift: This is the maximium valve lift the camshaft make. The value is set at 0 valve clearance. High lift often means more power, if the head flows enough. On the other hand it often also requires rebuilt valve mechanism with longer and stronger springs and special retainers. The distance between the valve-piston and valve seal-retainer must also be checked.

Cam lift: Applies to a camshaft in an engine with rocker arms where a ratio exists. For example 5,0mm gives a max lift of 7,5mm if the ratio is 1,5.

Lobe angle: The relation in degrees between the intake and exhaust lobes max lift to TDC.

Timing @ 1,0mm Indicates when the valve opens and closes in relation to top dead center and at 1,0mm lift.

Valve lift at TDC: This measure tells us how much the camshaft lift the valve at top dead center. The value is set at 0 valve clearance. High lifts often gives rough idle and increased emission levels (overlap), but is a must for camshafts with high duration and high max lift.

Parts setup:

O.E.M. = Original = you can use standard parts for this position.
Part number instead of O.E.M = rebuilt = you have to replace the part for this position to the part number showed (or similar part) for the valve mechanism to work with the camshaft. Try searching our webshop with the part number or contact us if its not posted.

Remarks: Indicates whether some special information is needed before an order and/or if any special details need to be checked or modified.
