Engine Mounts
Most original engine mounts are made of soft rubber to eliminate most of the vibrations that can be transmitted between the engine and the body. This works well with standard engines and soft driving, but when you tune the engine and/or drive more active, the load increases to the point that the engine then starts to move violently instead.
Not infrequently, front exhaust pipes can break and bolts can come loose. You can also have problems with "wheel bounce" and shifting.
Our special spring engine mounts are made of steel, stainless steel and aluminum. They are therefore completely free of rubber and thus retain their properties without aging. They can also withstand significantly higher heat (up to +300°C) than a standard engine mount. This can be especially good for turbo engines where high radiant heat from the manifold/front pipe can often cause the rubber to melt or age prematurely.
We also offer neoprene or polyurethane engine mounts where our special spring solution does not fit or would not work properly. These two compounds come in different hardnesses and the ones we use are also stronger than the original.
With our engine mounts you get an engine that can still move and eliminate much of the vibrations that would otherwise spread to the body, but is still significantly more powerful and can therefore handle increased power and active driving.
Note that this is not a rigid mounting of the engine. A rigid mounting usually results in fatigue of the body and bolt connections. Not to mention the vibrations! |
